If you have never been to therapy before, you may be a bit nervous. You are not alone. Many people don't know what to expect the first visit, or the visits that follow. I have outlined some of the details to best ease you into this process.
- Remember Covid? Yeah, me too! It has taught many people, myself included, that some jobs can be done from home offices and via telehealth. So, I will be in my home, and you can be in yours. (Or your car, your work, the park... I've seen it all!) While some still prefer the in person sessions, this style has some benefits as well. For starters, you can schedule a session on your lunch break, or call in from your drive home from work, you don't have to cancel if a child is home from school or your car is having issues. Plus, you can be in pajamas if you wish!
- Our first session will be about gathering some information about you and what is going on for you. I'd like to hear about your goals for therapy, what you'd like to improve upon.
- From there we will continue to talk about your concerns or issues, fears, or stresses. The session is yours to use, and me to guide.
- If at any point, you do not feel like we are a match, I can provide you with the names of additional therapists in the area. Again, you want to make sure therapy works for you, so don't hesitate to speak up.
- Sessions are 50 minutes long, and how often you come in will depend on some variables we can talk about in session.
